Karen moved to Lake Mary in 1996 from Clearwater, Florida and still owns rental properties across this beautiful town.

“I had heard about this developing city and had seen pictures of the gorgeous grounds and picturesque streets. It almost had a utopian feel to it as the Lake Mary city planners were very deliberate about the look and feel they wanted the city to have. Their thoughtful planning and design worked because it drew my attention and it was not long before I bought my first Lake Mary home. I haven’t left the area since and am proud to share what brought me to this community with all of my clients looking to relocate to this area. I have helped hundreds of people move to Lake Mary and the reason is no surprise. Lake Mary really has it all!” explains Karen.

Lake Mary sits at the center of Florida’s high tech corridor which follows Interstate 4 from Tampa all the way through Seminole County and into Daytona Beach on the East Coast. Lake Mary has a population of about 18,000 with dozens of companies that have set up headquarter and corporate offices to create what some locals call central Florida’s version of Silicon Valley. The design from inception was to develop a community where people can work, play and raise their families- all within a short distance so that commuting is not necessary. Some people refer to Lake Mary as the ‘epicenter of Florida’s high tech corridor’ because of the many corporations that are based in the telecommunication, medical and microelectronic industries. 

AAA is one such company. AAA houses its national headquarters in Lake Mary and their sprawling campus can be seen from the highway as travelers pass by one of the 2 highway exits that lead easily into Lake Mary. 

Mitsubishi Power Systems, FARO Technologies and Dixon Ticonderoga also call Lake Mary their corporate office’s home. Who knew that the internationally popular #2 yellow Dixon pencils that we all have used, were from the company that houses their corporate offices in Lake Mary, Florida.

Karen Arbutine knows every street in Lake Mary as she has lived in and worked in this city for over 25 years. She is an avid outdoorsman and loves that she can easily walk to one of the many natural pathways, trails and parks with her dog, Bear.

This downtown development district is described as having ‘a unique neighborhood backyard personality and is home to fine dining, clothing boutiques, offices, a beautiful park, the picturesque Events Center and City Hall, according to the City’s website.

The Parks and Recreation facilities are well maintained and offer something for everyone. Lake Mary also proudly hosts a wide variety of youth recreation sports. If your child is interested in baseball, soccer, tennis or softball there is a program just for them. For families that are 55 years and older there are plenty of activities to fill your calendar at the Lake Mary Senior Center. You can choose to join in various events such as line dancing, sewing classes and senior golf, amongst many other programs.

Top Golf built one of their largest facilities right off of Lake Emma Rd in 2021 and is a highlight for families looking to enjoy a delicious burgers while hitting some golf balls, no matter the weather, rain or shine.

In addition to being an outdoor lover’s dream, Lake Mary also provides plenty of indoor activities for those who like to enjoy a great dinner. Some of the most popular restaurants in the Colonial Town Park complex are The Vineyard Wine Company, Amura Sushi and Dexter’s. This complex is a favorite for locals who are looking to enjoy some live music and entertainment on the weekends. Catching a new release at one of the city’s movie theatres, window shopping in the downtown district, or visiting a history museums are also activities that you will see Lake Mary residents enjoying.
