Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in the middle of a picturesque park? How would you spend your time if you lived in a tropical paradise setting that was home to a national bird sanctuary? Sounds like this would be a storybook setting…right?

Well, look no further. Heathrow is the community that can turn this fairytale into a reality.

Heathrow is one of the most envied communities in all of Central Florida.  For over 40 years it has been considered one of the most exclusive gated communities in Florida. This prestigious golf community is centered on an award-winning 18 hole golf course, Heathrow Country Club, and about 2,500 lucky residents call this beautiful city their home.

Sitting on the west side of I-4, next to Lake Mary, Heathrow is only 19 miles from downtown Orlando but it is worlds away from the hustle and bustle of downtown city life. One of the many reasons Lake Mary’s location is so popular is that the short commute into Downtown Orlando makes an easy drive back home for those professionals that work in the heart of downtown.

With a variety of homes ranging from the mid 400Ks to over 7 million Heathrow was developed in the 1980s by Jeno Paulucci. Jeno Paulucci was a self-made millionaire who made his fortune selling in line of pizza and frozen food. Paulucci’s vision was to have a luxury community where residence did not have to go far to enjoy fine restaurants, great shopping and countless outdoor activities. An inclusive gated community that was designed unlike any other and that set a new standard for luxury living.

One of the top reasons families move to Seminole County is because of their well known, top rated school system. With decades worth of recognition ,in both academic and sporting programs, students who live in Heathrow will be given the best of education.

Before you even drive through the gates of Heathrow you will see that this vision was turned into a reality. The grounds of Heathrow are meticulously maintained and give a feel as though the community was developed yesterday rather that decades ago. As you pass the impressive brick guard house, you drive down the extra wide scenic roads that are covered by the shade of large oak and palm trees. It truly feels as though you have entered your own Central Park the minute you arrive to Heathrow.

You won’t need to venture far to enjoy many restaurants and shopping complexes. Another feature that the original developer of Heathrow wanted to ensure was that residents would have everything they needed within a very close proximity. In fact, the idea was to have an oasis-type community that the homeowners would never need to leave- unless they wanted to of course. Over the years ,since Heathrow was originally built, many additional shopping areas and city amenities have been added to the local area. Some of the local’s favorite dining options are Stonewood Grill and Tavern , Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and FishBones.

This well designed community offers 30 unique ‘villages’. Each village offers different price ranges and distinct looks and feel. Each village is more special than the next and Karen can share the details and features of each area when you tour Heathrow together. Each area of the community offers it’s own bespoke views of the many natural spring fed lakes, sparkling ponds and glass like streams that are highlighted throughout Heathrow.

If you like to play golf or tennis, as a member Heathrow will be your paradise. Many PGA and LPGA events have been hosted at Heathrow Country Club and if you want to improve your game, there is no better way than having a golf course right outside your front door.  In addition to having access to the Heathrow course, members also play on their sister golf course Alaqua Lakes.

If you would rather ‘take a stroll’ than ‘take a swing’, you will love the 2.5 miles walking trail that runs through Heathrow. There are many scenic walkways and paths easily accessed at many resident-only access points throughout the community. The paths are manicured, maintained daily and safely well-lit for those families that enjoy a walk at dusk, as a way to close out their day.

“I enjoy walking my dog Bear every evening on our community’s walking trails.” says Karen. “One of the reasons I love selling homes in Heathrow is that, as a local resident myself, I can match new owners with the perfect home, based on the things that are important to them and based on their lifestyle. If someone likes to enjoy long walks with their fur baby, like I do, then I show them my favorite walking routes and the open park areas where dogs enjoy running and playing catch. I love to share this part of my life with my clients. Afterall, this is what makes our lives fulfilling- all the things that we enjoy doing with our loved ones and families (including our furry families too).
