One of Longwood's residents turns his hobby into  a community art project along the Seminole County Bike Trail.  Jeff Sonksen, of Longwood, FL a former carpenter, paints large portraits of celebrities, prominent world figures and movie characters

on wooden fences.   He canvases the fences facing the Seminole County Trail giving bikers, joggers and passers by an attractive and interesting view.

His beautification project began with two paintings of random artwork that he put up on his parent's backyard fence as a joke.  After he received positive affirmations of those who saw it on the bike trail, he continued his artwork.

The trail now has more than 400 feet of Sonksen's artwork with hopes of expanding the project.

Sonksen was a painter from a young age, but he does not consider himself an artist.    His subjects range from inspirational leaders to superheroes, cartoon characters, movie stars and musicians.    As you walk along the Seminole/Wekiva Trail, it is

easy to stop and admire the paintings along the way.
