In 2010 Orlando broke a record for total visitation for the destination location as well as for the entire country! Orlando is the first destination to break the 50 million visitor mark in a single year with an estimated 51.455 million visitors in 2010.
Orlando is rebounding so quickly due to several reasons. In 2008 and 2009 families, individuals, companies and corporations were pulling back on spending and travel was one of the first which was reduced. In 2010 many people felt more comfortable with traveling and the pent up demand to get back to vacations set it. Many firms persisted tradeshows and conventions in Orlando to kick start their sales.
Next, as many as you all know Orlando is home to Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort and Sea World Adventure Parks. These parks heavily promoted Florida tourism. Also new attractions and resorts opening have kept Orlando fresh in the minds of travelers. The new Waldorf Astoria and Hilton Hotel at the Orange County Convention Center are a value added epicenter. Also, Harry Potter became and Orlando resident last year creating a global buzz amongst the traveling industry.
